Change Made is an emerging new media platform geared towards fostering social change. We produce stories about people and movements working to build a better future for the world. To maintain our independence and integrity, we’re committed to transparency around how we fund our work.
Our Planned Revenue Model.
Change Made will operate through a mix of nonprofit funding and earned revenue. Here’s a breakdown of how we plan to generate revenue:
1. Grants and Public Funding
We receive project-based and operational funding from public arts councils, foundations, and institutional funders who support our mission to train youth, tell untold stories, and invest in equitable storytelling.
Examples include:
Arts councils
Community foundations
Media and journalism funds
We never accept funding that comes with editorial influence or restricts our ability to report freely.
2. Story Commissions and Editorial Partnerships
Organizations, publishers, and non-profits commission us to create multimedia stories aligned with their mission. We retain creative direction and ensure all content maintains our editorial standards.
We produce:
Photo Essays
Short Documentaries
Podcasts
Written Profiles
All commissions are clearly marked, and editorial independence is non-negotiable.
3. Creative Services & Production Studio
Change Made Studios offers storytelling and content production services to mission-aligned clients. Revenue from these contracts supports our team and subsidizes community-centered projects.
Services include:
Media Production
Grant Fundraising
Communications Strategy
Digital Marketing
This earned income allows us to reduce reliance on grants and invest in sustainability.
4. Events and Public Programming
We plan on host screenings, exhibitions, workshops, and pop-ups that engage local communities. Some events are ticketed or supported by sponsorships, while others are free and funded through grants.
5. Merch, Licensing, and Syndication
We plan on licensing our media and sell select merch or prints. Licensing fees help us distribute our stories more widely and fund future content creation.
Our Values on Funding
Editorial Independence: No funder, client, or sponsor dictates what we cover or how we tell a story.
Community First: We prioritize funding that uplifts community voices and provides value to local audiences.
Transparency: We aim to be clear about all revenue sources and how they support our work.
